| We were joined by our partners from Moshannon Valley EMS , the Pennsyvania State Police, the District Attorney’s Office, the Coroner’s Office, Clearfield County Department of Public Safety and the Grassflat Grassflat Volunteer Fire Company to put together a realistic and impactful scenario. The demonstration simulated a serious crash involving multiple injured patients, one fatality, and one driver being taken into custody for DUI.
Crews operated just as they would on a real emergency scene—stabilizing vehicles, performing extrication to free trapped victims, and providing immediate medical care. The goal was to show students firsthand how quickly a bad decision can turn into a life-altering event, not only for those involved but for everyone connected to them.
Following the outdoor demonstration, students and staff moved into the auditorium where representatives from each agency spoke about the lasting consequences of impaired driving. These discussions highlighted the emotional, legal, and personal impacts that extend far beyond the crash scene—affecting families, friends, and entire communities.
After the event, all participating first responders gathered at our fire hall for lunch and some well-deserved time to connect and catch up. While we always enjoy the camaraderie, the message of the day remains serious: make smart choices, look out for one another, and never get behind the wheel impaired.
We would like to thank everyone involved in organizing and participating in this important event. If even one life is changed by what was seen and heard today, then the effort was well worth it. |
