| The first incident occurred on the Allport Cutoff, where initial reports to County 911 indicated a working structure fire. Quint 17 arrived on scene to find heavy fire conditions. Crews quickly initiated an aggressive interior attack in an effort to contain the blaze and protect the structure. Despite the rapid response and determined efforts of our firefighters, the fire had already gained significant headway, and the residence was ultimately deemed a total loss. Fortunately, all occupants were accounted for.
Later in the day, Morris Township Fire Company was dispatched to assist the Philipsburg Fire Department with another working structure fire.
Engine Rescue 17 responded and established a 5-inch supply line to support water operations on scene. Our crew then assisted with fire suppression efforts before transitioning to overhaul operations to ensure all remaining hot spots were extinguished.
While both structure fires yesterday occurred during a weekday—when many of our members are at work—Morris Township Fire Company was still able to respond with sufficient, well-trained personnel to handle the incidents effectively.
However, we are always looking to strengthen our ranks. Whether you’re available during the day or at night, we welcome anyone interested in serving their community to consider joining our team. |
