| The first call came in at 2020 hours for a reported structure fire in Clearfield Borough. Quint 17 responded to assist the Clearfield Fire Company. Due to a quick and effective knockdown of the fire by initial arriving units, Quint 17 was reassigned to stand by at Station 1 for the Clearfield Fire Company to ensure continued coverage for the area.
While crews were operating in Clearfield, a second call was dispatched at 2044 hours for an emergency medical assist. Rescue 17 responded and assisted Moshannon Valley EMS with patient care.
As crews worked that incident, a third call was received at 2110 hours for a serious crash involving a side-by-side and a passenger vehicle along State Route 53. Reports indicated multiple patients with traumatic injuries. Engine Rescue 17 and Rescue 17 responded immediately. Due to the severity of injuries, multiple medical helicopters were initially requested. Rescue 17 was repositioned to St. Agnes Church to establish multiple landing zones; however, due to time considerations, all patients were ultimately transported via ground EMS. Quint 17 cleared from Clearfield and responded to assist at the scene. Route 53 remained closed for an extended period while emergency personnel operated.
While crews were still committed on Route 53, a fourth call was dispatched at 2157 hours for an ATV accident with traumatic injuries in the Big Run area. With patients from the previous incident already transported, Quint 17, Rescue 17, Engine Rescue 17, and Command 17 cleared the Route 53 scene and responded. Upon arrival, it was determined that a medical helicopter would be required. Quint 17 established a landing zone at the Morris Township Recreation Center on Deer Creek Road to support the air medical operation.
This series of incidents highlights the dedication and commitment of our volunteer firefighters and emergency personnel, who continuously adapt and respond to rapidly evolving situations. We would also like to thank our mutual aid partners and EMS agencies for their assistance throughout the evening.
