| As crews began responding—many leaving Easter family gatherings—the call was quickly upgraded to a cardiac arrest after it was reported the patient was no longer moving air.
Members from the 17 house arrived on scene and immediately initiated life-saving measures.
Firefighters performed abdominal thrusts and back strikes in an effort to dislodge the obstruction. After multiple attempts, the object was successfully removed, and the patient began breathing on his own.
Care was then transferred to Moshannon Valley EMS for continued evaluation, treatment and transport.
This incident serves as an important reminder of how quickly a choking emergency can escalate and the critical importance of rapid response and intervention.
Morris Township Fire Company is proud of the quick actions taken by our members MVEMS and PSP, even while stepping away from time with their families on Easter to answer the call. |
