| for a reported working structure fire. You know… the kind that gets your heart rate up, boots moving fast, and coffee abandoned mid-sip.
Initial reports coming into the county had it sounding like a good one — smoke showing, possible structure involvement, the whole nine yards. Crews started preparing for what could have been a long evening.
However… as is tradition… reality had other plans. Upon arrival, a Clearfield officer made the groundbreaking discovery that the “working fire” was, in fact… a bathtub fire. Yes. A bathtub. Inside a house. Being used by a construction crew who apparently decided that the best place to burn remodeling debris… was in the bathroom’s finest porcelain fixture.
Because nothing says “home improvement” like turning your tub into a backyard burn barrel. Thankfully, the situation was quickly handled and no actual structure damage occurred (aside from the dignity of everyone involved). No injuries were reported, unless you count the emotional damage sustained by firefighters trying to process what they were witnessing.
We’d like to take this opportunity to remind everyone: Bathtubs are for bathing. Burn barrels are for burning. And mixing the two will result in a very expensive visit from your local fire department.
As always, we’re happy to assist our neighbors at Clearfield Fire Company—no matter how unique the emergency may be. But next time, let’s keep the fires out of the plumbing fixtures.
Stay safe, stay smart… and please… for the love of all things holy…
Do not light fires in your bathtub. 🛁🔥 |
